Liverpool Echo reported that Liverpool FC has a chance to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie for £47 million. With Joel Matip leaving the team, Liverpool has been looking for a replacement in the centre-back position. Several players have been linked with the Reds, including Marc Guehi, Willian Pacho, Gleison Bremer, Gonaclo Inacio, and Odilon Kossounou.

Piero Hincapie, who helped Bayer Leverkusen win the Bundesliga title last season, is also on Liverpool’s radar. The 22-year-old defender is reportedly looking for more playing time and could leave Leverkusen this month. Although talks have been initiated with some clubs, no agreements have been reached yet.

Hincapie, valued at £47 million, played for Leverkusen in their recent friendly against Arsenal. Liverpool currently has Virgil van Dijk, Jarell Quansah, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, and Sepp van den Berg as their centre-back options. The futures of Gomez and Van den Berg are uncertain, and Liverpool might consider making changes in defense in the upcoming weeks.
