Coronation Street Star Inspires Kindness at Local Primary School

Students at Dulwich Wood Primary School were in for a treat this morning as Coronation Street actor Chris Harper paid them a special visit. The purpose of his visit? To promote awareness for the NSPCC’s Kindness Challenge, a campaign aimed at spreading kindness and positivity in schools and communities across the country.

Harper, known for his role in the popular television soap since 2016, took the time to engage with the students at Dulwich Wood, located in Bowen Drive, Sydenham Hill. The Kindness Challenge encourages schools and nurseries to participate by selecting up to nine kind acts from an NSPCC worksheet, which they strive to complete during the first week of October.

During his visit, Harper spoke to the children about the important work of the NSPCC and Childline, emphasizing the significance of kindness, consideration, and respect towards others. He encouraged the students to think beyond simple gestures like holding the door open and to develop a deeper understanding of empathy and compassion.

Following the assembly, Harper engaged the students in a worksheet session and a Q&A session with selected year groups. The children eagerly participated in the Kindness Challenge, reflecting on ways they could make a positive impact in their school and community.

A Champion for Child Welfare

Chris Harper’s involvement in the NSPCC’s Kindness Challenge is just one example of his dedication to supporting child welfare causes. In his role as Nathan Curtis on Coronation Street, Harper portrayed a character involved in a grooming and exploitation storyline, shedding light on the harsh realities faced by children in vulnerable situations.

Harper’s commitment to raising awareness and funds for child sexual abuse charities has made him a respected advocate for the protection and well-being of young people. His presence at Dulwich Wood Primary School not only inspired the students but also underscored the importance of kindness and empathy in creating a safer and more supportive environment for children.
