A train carrying 56 passengers has crashed into a tractor and trailer at a level crossing in Herefordshire. The Manchester-to-Cardiff service hit the tractor between Ludlow and Leominster, just after 10.45 at Nordan Farm, and British Transport Police have confirmed it was not derailed. British Transport Police said that six people had been treated by medics and none of the injuries are thought to be serious. Transport for Wales said on social media, “Due to a train hitting an obstruction on the line between Hereford and Shrewsbury all lines are blocked. “Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed. “Please check before you travel.” A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service told Your Herefordshire, “Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Hereford, Malvern, Redditch, Wyre Forest, Leintwardine, Tenbury Wells and Leominster Fire Stations were called at 10:52 on 22 May to an incident with a train, consisting of five carriages and carrying 66 people in collision with an agricultural trailer unit near Orleton. “Six people have been handed over to the care of the ambulance service (log 1314) with minor injuries. “Police are also in attendance, as are Network Rail. There is no fire and the train was not derailed but there will be some disruption to the line.”
